Hi folks,

Has the core OncoTree team or anybody else here created an explicit mapping from the OncoTree tumor types to the underlying tissue and/or cell of origin? For example, linking small cell lung cancer to pulmonary neuroendocrine cell (NCIT C45572).

This is something we're thinking of doing but it would be great if someone has already done it!

Best,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Apologies for the delay.

We have not investigated that mapping for OncoTree. But we do have a more complete OncoTree code to NCIT mapping, if that can help with initiating your effort?

Thanks
Ritika

Hi Ritika,

It looks like that could work, using the NCIT's "Disease_Has_Normal_Cell_Origin" relationship. I will look further into this, thank you for the pointer. Also since you mentioned NCIT, I would also like to make sure that you know that we have all the HemOncKB condition codes mapped to NCIT and a subset mapped to OncoTree (not including, for example, benign hematologic conditions). So you can and should use HemOncKB as a crosswalk to further assess the accuracy and consistency of the mappings. Available here as well as within NCIT!

Best,
Jeremy
