For those interested in Monarchs, the fall migration is underway. These cool temperatures send the monarchs scurrying southward. Numbers have appeared to be small this summer in southern Ontario, in part because of extremely dry conditions, but I wonder if monarchs have thrived further to the north?
Near Port Hope today, one field near Lake Ontario contained hundreds of monarchs, and with a friend, from 1:30 pm to 3 pm, we captured 225 monarchs to tag.
