Passing of Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist Darlene Burgess of Leamington, ON

So saddened to learn that a very important person who devoted so much time and effort to monarch conservation and research in Canada passed away earlier today. I so looked forward to the daily monarch counts from the tip of Point Pelee conducted by Darlene Burgess whose farm was located just outside of the park. How touching that her family wheeled her hospice bed out onto a patio so she could watch the solar eclipse on Monday. We finally met in Toronto when her husband was in hospital here some years ago.
