Hi,

The rarer immigrant butterflies have been scarce the last few years. After years of being annual in Brant I have not seen a Variegated Fritillary here in the last couple of years. This is also the case for other species with a similar status in Brant. Thus it was notable that I saw a Snout Butterfly on 22 August at Paris Plains Church Rd and Nith Rd in Brant. Also yesterday (25 August), while not in Brant, I saw my first Common Buckeye in a couple of years at Port Ryerse, Norfolk County. This is often the time of the year when these rarer immigrants show up.

The photos here were taken by Vicki Easton.
