Possibility of un-grouping questions

Dear ONA team,

Once a question group has been created and responses have been submitted, is it possible to 'ungroup' the questions before using the data? I ask because in order to use my ONA survey with another software, the data must be flat, as opposed to nested, and I feel un-grouping the questions may be the only way to create flat data so that I can import it elsewhere.

Hi Hannah,  I'd have to look at a sample of your data to see how the questions in your groups have been nested. Do you have your questions nested in repeat groups?  Please share the project, in which the form is located, with onasupport and assign a Can View and Download permission level to enable us to look into this possibility. Once you have shared the project, please let us know the account name, project name, and form title.  Regards, George.

Thank you for sharing the message from George and about toladata supporting only flat data. Since most of the questionnaires in ona are grouped in order to have repeated questions, in that case, is there a way directly connecting it with tola or would require it to download it and upload separate sheets of excel for indicator tracking?

 

@George , Yes we have repeated question in the group. I have shared the data ona forms (Project) with onasupport with permission level, can view and download. Please review it and provide your feedback.

I am forwarding you the emails between me and the ONA support facility. I do not have ONA data to share with them. Perhaps it is better if you communicate with them about how to create flat data with your question groups. As it stands, TolaData will only be able to display your data if it is flat.

Hello Inam, Please note that when you have repeat groups in your form, the data becomes complex and to flatten this data via a connection is not easy, hence we recommend you download the data in Excel format that comes with data for different repeat groups in different sheets. After download you can write your scripts that matches data from repeat groups to parent data using _index column and parent_index. Could you please give us more clarification on how you are using data in Tola?  Regards, Samson
