FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – It’s been a challenging 2015 for myself as too many work and social activities, including out of town trips have hindered my sending out the newsletter on a regular basis. However, things have settled somewhat this week just in time for the biggest events of all! Yes, this weekend Dallas’ two most legendary events occur on Saturday – the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Greenville Avenue and the crazy block party on Lower Greenville! And the weather should be really nice! Wow!
*****************************************************************
FOR SATURDAY 3/14/15 – ST. PATRICK’S PARADE – UPPER GREENVILLE – 11 AM
ON THE AVENUE – Come out to the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Southwest! Two years ago this parade drew over 100,000 people and with some rain last year still 70,000 showed up! It’s a two mile route with over 90 parade float entries including the Mayor of Greenville Avenue’s 17th Society float! (Look for the Princess of McKinney Avenue’s white decorated convertible with 20 marchers tossing and handing out 6,000 green beads and 20,000 shamrock stickers!) We will be among more than 1,700 parade participants! The parade is put on by the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association and is sponsored by the Dallas Mavericks. It starts on Greenville at Blackwell St. and ends on SMU Blvd at Central Expressway. (The Mayor of Greenville Avenue will make an appearance.)

FOR SATURDAY 3/14/15 – Street Bash – Lower Greenville – 2 PM
ON THE AVENUE – After the parade head to Lower Greenville for the greatest St. Patrick’s party of them all – the legendary zany block party attended by 30,000 people! Lower Greenville will be barricaded and shut off to traffic beginning at 10 AM until 6 PM! Entry fee is $10; so bring cash for that. Meet the Mayor of Greenville Avenue around 2ish PM at Stan’s Blue Note. Then we will wade through the sea of green to hit the Dubliner around 3:30 PM! Then it’s back to the street and then to Stan’s later on! There is nothing like this party in the entire world! (The Mayor of Greenville Avenue will make an appearance.)

**********************ST. PATRICK’S DAY******************************
FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY – TUESDAY 3/17/15 – PUB CRAWL – DALLAS
ON AND OFF THE AVENUE – Take off work and join the Mayor of Greenville Avenue on my annual pub crawl. You can join us at any time as this is not a structured event, but best to join early to take in the merriment! Meet at Trinity Hall at 10 AMto hear some great Irish music and have breakfast. Then it’s on to the Dubliner around 1 PM to hear my favorite band perform – Behan! Then later in the afternoon we head to the Idle Rich Pub to hear another great band – the Kildare’s! (The Mayor of Greenville Avenue will make an appearance.)
