Hello Dallas!  It's time once again to take a trip down our beloved Avenue!

OFF THE AVENUE – Two of pro football’s most storied teams collide as the Dallas Cowboys travel to frigid Solder Field to take on the Chicago Bears! Meet at the Nodding Donkey in Uptown for what might be the game of the year! (The Mayor of Greenville Avenue will make an appearance.)

HATS OFF:

From “The Dallas Morning News” – Kenneth Hughes 69 died Saturday of natural causes at Baylor University Medical Center. He became a national recognized urban developer including his landmark development of Mockingbird Station. Hughes used his travel observations to shape Mockingbird Station. He selected light fixtures from Venice. The Lofts at Mockingbird Station featured kitchen hardware from Germany and stylish bathroom sinks from New York.

********************************************************************

GASTON AVENUE NEWS:

From “The Dallas Morning News” – The Fresh Market is the latest grocer to enter the Dallas area. It tries to create a European market feel with classical music playing, hanging scales in the produce section and checkout lanes under a wooden canopy. It stocks specialty groceries, fresh meats, fish and produce and has an extensive deli, bakery and bulk food section. The first store is a 24,000 sq. ft. one at the corner of Gaston Avenue and Garland Road. A second store will open in Turtle Creek Village in the spring.

THE DALLAS SEEN:

This column will return next week.
