FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE:

DALLAS BEST BARS:
From the “Culture Map Dallas” – “Southern Living” recently released a list of the 100 best bars in the South and four Dallas establishments made the list! They are the Windmill Lounge, Smyth, Cedars Social and of course – the Standard Pour!
From “rent.com” – Here’s another national listing from “rent.com” for Best Sports Bars in Dallas – this group has nailed it! Here are the four best ones – Christie’s, the Franchise Grill & Bar, Katy Trail Ice House, Trinity Hall and Lakewood 1st and 10!

BEST SPORTS CITIES:
It’s not always that these national groups get something right, but “rent.com” again was right on the best sports cities in the USA! Here are the top four in order – New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas!

THE CHICAGO SEEN:
Last week many of Dallas’ most prominent were actually spotted off the Avenue in Chicago along with many of that city’s greats! Here are just a few of those sightings!
Last Thursday the Mayor of Greenville Avenue arrived in Chicago for what turned out to be another one of those great trips that will be talked about for quite a while! That evening I did an urban trail in zero degrees with a few hearty friends from my beloved Thirstday HHH group! It was cold but so neat to do a trail with all of the snow! We wound up back at Four Treys where more of my group joined us and several brews were consumed. Some of the great ones showing up included “LTA”, “Fuji”, “WJ40”, “Foamy”, Keith “the Navigator” Mabrey (H.O.F.#6) and the legendary “Horn-E!”

On Friday evening I joined up with Mike “Mudsucker” Bendas at one of my favorite bars – Big Star! Then we headed to his part of town on the South Side and hit three different Sox bars!
*****
On Saturday evening I attended the Twelfth Night Masque in the Drake Hotel! Many greats were out including Marcie Allison, Kyla Brown, M.J. Tala, Lisa and Dante Bacani, Kim and Don Payne, Mickey and John “Fitz” Fitzgerald, the former Kathryn Bramlitt (H.O.F.#130) and Jeff Grabowski, Megan and Brian Sullivan, Linda and Chuck Gits, James Bowman and one of Dallas’ greatest – Michael “M2” Murray! The party was Hollywood themed, and I won overall best actor in the Grand March skit as Hannibal Lector! Needless to say the post party was awesome and I finally headed out of the hotel as it was snowing like crazy at 3:30 AM! On Lake Shore Drive three snow plows came up fast on the access road and jumped right in front of my cab, as he had to put on the brakes! It was so surreal as there wasn’t much traffic out and the snow was coming down hard and looked so beautiful! Twenty minutes later I was back at Keith’s! You have to love a city that knows how to handle snow and inclement weather, and not like Dallas that doesn’t!
*****
On Sunday a large group of people turned out at Butch McGwire’s to watch videos from the party the night before. It was a great way to end another incredible weekend! Keith and Michael were there with me, as well as former Dallas resident and good friend Brian Sullivan!
