GREENVILLE AVENUE NEWS:
This week sad news was received as one of the most beloved stores on Greenville Avenue is closing! The landmark institution for 21 years, CD Source, which is owned and managed by my longtime friend Lance Price, will be no more. The music selling institution will be closing in a few weeks. According to Lance, the landlord is moving another tenant into the space and rather than relocate two decades’ work of stock, Lance is opting to turn out the lights and move on. Lance you will definitely be missed and we all wish you good luck any new endeavors! With you goes a bit of history, as was stated in the “Dallas Morning News’ this stretch of Greenville Avenue near Lovers and Mockingbird lanes was once a music lover’s paradise, but all the stores are now gone! Sales are ongoing at this time at CD Source.

MCKINNEY AVENUE NEWS:
From the “Dallas Morning News” 9/24/14 edition – A new Uptown high rise will be built on the Café Express site at McKinney Avenue and Bowen Street. It will have 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, including a spot for Café Express. It will also have a facility for the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority. The streetcar line would get a new trolley barn space, office and an exhibit area in the building. The apartment tower will be moved to the back of the lot on Oak Grove Avenue. The MATA is currently enlarging its route through downtown Dallas. Adding another trolley, barn space and a museum with leadership offices has been a goal of theirs for years.

THE DALLAS SEEN:
As usual many of Dallas’ most prominent were sighted on and off the Avenue last weekend! Here are just a few of those sightings!
Last Friday the place to be was Oktoberfest in Addison as many of the greatest were spotted! They include Anne Rule, Eddie D (H.O.F.#141), Byron, “Big Gulp”, “Knut Knudger”, “Dive Barb”, “Claude Hopper”, “Capo”, Damen Caruso and Pete Krogulski! There were good German bands including Brave Combo and Evergreen. Everyone had a great time!

On Saturday it was another one of those fun events that is clearly an event to be at every year! It was the Hoffen Foundation’s “Little Black Dress” party, which meant another night of Dallas’ most prominent making appearances. Some of those in attendance including Jerry Maddox, Eddie D, Mark Tammel, “EF”, Julie “Jewels” McGowan, Pat Secho, Raquel, Randy “the Enforcer” Wright – the Captain of the Fifth Ward, Chris Desjardins, Linda Lemmond, “Claude Hopper”, “Red Rocket”, “Pork” and Capo! Miss Texas International also made an appearance!
