UPTOWN NEWS:
CrushCraft just opened on 2/3/14 in the old Baker Brother’s spot in the Quadrangle in Uptown! From the “Dallas Morning News” Guide - The executive chef formerly of Cru Wine Bar is opening this new. But despite the name, it isn’t another wine bar. CrushCraft is a nod to their method of smashing peppers and herbs, Nuchkasem explains. He plans to buy most of the restaurant’s spices from a North Texas Thai woman who is growing the herbs in her backyard. Chef Singhapong will make traditional Thai cuisine inspired by dishes from Bangkok, familiar plates like pad thai, and signature chef dishes like pork belly curry and braised short ribs. The bar will serve Southeast Asian and local beers, plus sake and soju, according to a press release. CrushCraft Thai will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, seemingly to feed hungry Uptown bar hoppers on the weekends.

KNOX – HENDERSON NEWS:
From the 2/3/14 edition of “The Dallas Morning News” - A new Knox Street development will include luxury apartments, shops and a Trader Joe's grocery store. Details are out for the new retail and residential development planned for Dallas’ Knox Street district. The building at Cole and Armstrong avenues will be a mixed-use development that will include a Trader Joe’s grocery store and replaces the old Ed Kellum & Son appliance retail location and two restaurants on Cole. The buildings have been vacated and are awaiting demolition. The building at 4501 Cole will cost $38.6 million and will include a six-story, 165-unit luxury rental building on top of the retail.
From Culture Map of Dallas – The Hacienda on Henderson closed this last weekend, even though they had been advertising for the Super Bowl. The Hacienda was opened by Patrick Tetrick, Chris Faulkner and the Mayor of Greenville Avenue’s longtime friend Miles “Smiley” Zuniga in July 2009. Zuniga, who could not be reached for comment by “Culture Map”, is a longtime operator on Henderson who also owns the Slip Inn and Vickery Park.
