Dear friends of the Newark Office of Sustainability,
In commemoration of Earth Day 2017, the City will be hosting a press conference on Monday, April 17th at 11:30 A.M. at the Rabbit Hole Farm (38 Rose Terrace, South Ward). At the ceremony, the Mayor will announce a new grant award under the Cities of Service Prepared Together Impact Volunteering grant program to help the City increase community disaster preparedness and resiliency. The Mayor will also plant a couple peach trees alongside kindergarten scholars from the B.R.I.C.K. Avon Academy next door, and sign a proclamation encouraging all Newarkers to get involved in a “Green Your Community Week” series of events.
Please help spread the word, particularly to your contacts in the media, so that we can celebrate the good work happening throughout the City to build a greener, cleaner, more vibrant city for all. My central goal is to ensure a good turnout of residents to Earth Day/Earth Week activities taking place throughout Newark. If you know about an Earth Day event not currently listed on www.newarknj.gov/card/earthday, please email me with all the pertinent details, as well as a flyer, if available.
