My name is Tobias A. Fox, a Newark resident, and would like to take part of the Adopt-a-Lot Program for the purpose of cultivating a community garden. The lot of interest is located at 86 ½ Garside Street, Newark, New Jersey 07104.
As an organizer for Newark’s Science and Sustainability Working Group, we are a diverse group of college students, professionals, educators, and technicians from Newark and the surrounding cities working collectively for the common good of all life on this delicate planet of ours.
We are currently building solar panels with soda cans, exploring hydroponic gardening, supporting and touring local farms, and painting sidewalks white as a means to help reduce greenhouse gases and bring the problem of urban island heat effect to the attention of neighbors.
We meet every other Saturday, usually at Essex County College, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Our next meeting is April 28, 2012. I can also be reached at 646-399-0337.
