To: Tobias Fox <tobia...@gmail.com>

RCHP Affordable Housing Corp. has an opening in its Newark supportive housing program for a male youth, age 18+ (must be 21 under when first entering the program but can stay past age 22), from Essex County, with a mental health diagnosis and a history of involvement with DCP&P (formerly DYFS) and/or the justice involvement.  Residents pay 30% of their income towards the rent, however, it is not required to have an income in order to apply.  Anyone with a history of sexual offense, fire setting behavior, methamphetamine abuse, and/or extremely aggressive/violent behavior is excluded.

Please see below for a description of the program and the application requirements.

Shiimti Apartments Youth Supportive Housing in Newark
Shiimti Apartments is a shared living program.  Each resident has their own locked bedroom in a 3-BR apartment, and shares a kitchen, living room, and bathroom with two other residents.  Each house has a Resident Assistant whose role is to model healthy living, respect, and effective communication and to encourage compliance with the lease.  Residents must be able to live independently (getting along with housemates, cooking, cleaning, following house and program rules, etc.) as the house is not staffed 24/7.  Case management and linkage to nursing, psychiatric, substance use, educational, vocational and other support services will be provided by University Behavioral Health Care/UMDNJ.

For further information or to make a referral, please contact Lori Freedman at LEF...@optonline.net or 732-715-9838.

Thanks,

Lori
