Saturday, September 30 from 11 AM - 5PM NOFA NJ has been grateful to work with Newark Science and Sustainability on their USDA Beginning Farmer Program, Developing Sustainable, Resilient Urban Growers Through Beginning Farmer Training. As part of the year-long grant project, we are coordinating a trip to multiple farms in NJ that demonstrate exemplary models for farming, each at a different scale and producing different products. As a participant in this BFRDP program, we hope you can join us for what will surely be a fun and educational day! Tour Details Travel accommodations will be provided and details are TBD. NOFA NJ is coordinating a shuttle bus to depart Newark, NJ at approx. 11:30 AM. Attendees will arrive at Lima Family Farm for a farm tour and free farm-to-table lunch. Lima Family Farm produces grass-fed beef and pastured livestock in addition to mixed vegetables, and attendees will have the opportunity to shop the Lima Farm store before leaving. From there, the tour will move to Martenette Farms (mixed organic vegetables, eggs, and more) and then to Morganics Family Farm (covering oats, grains, and grain processing services) before departing for Newark at approx. 3:45 PM.
