Alfred Gill is the Executive Director of the Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Staten Island and Richmond Senior Services both located in New York City, and Sustainable Together of New Jersey. NHS and its affiliates are sustainable development corporations engaged in transitioning neighborhood and communities toward a more sustainable future. Alfred is a sustainable community economic development professional and practitioner who has focused his work on sustainable development through an integrated approach to developing sustainable communities where the needs of the present residents are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.
He is the founder and President/CEO of the faith-based community development intermediary, Faith Initiatives Development Corporation (FIDC) which was formed in July of 2003 and is an international capacity building organization that has supported the sustainable development efforts of faith and community-based organizations in the U.S. Africa and the Caribbean.
He is the former Director of Organizational Development and Training at the Faith Center for Community Development; a former Deputy Executive Director of the Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, one of New York City’s premier housing non-profits; and formerly a Management Consultant in Organizational Development and Management Systems with Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (NeighborWorks® America), a national community development intermediary.
Alfred assists and has sat on several boards in the areas of health, housing and community services. He has done extensive study in Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals; Process Improvement; Smart Growth; Transition Towns; Theory of Change and Organizational Development. He holds several memberships including: Partnership for Sustainability Communities; the American Society for Quality; The International Consortium of Caribbean Professionals; and The International Sustainability Council. He is a Business Management Studies graduate of the University of the West Indies – UWI; holds a Masters in Community and Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University and is PhD student in Sustainability Education at Prescott College Arizona.
