The North Conference - The 1967 Newark Rebellion, Power and Politics Before and After will explore the political and social climate of Newark for Blacks before and after the 1967 Newark Rebellion and election of Newark's first African American Mayor, Ken Gibson.  The event will feature local and national civil rights leaders who were organizing on the frontlines at that time, as they discuss the role of organization in the struggle for power and justice for Blacks in Newark and across the nation. On the second day, we will feature an intergenerational panel of leaders to discuss Black Power, Black Lives Matter, and what successful movement building must look like today. Check out our lineup of panelists and special guests on the flier below.

On September 30th there will be a reception from 5pm-6pm, with refreshments. On October 1st, lunch will be served.  The event is times to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of “Black Power” and Newark Celebration 350.

Enclosed you will find the flier for the event. To register to attend use the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-north-conference-the-1967-newark-rebellion-power-and-politics-before-and-after-tickets-25582400649
