Thanks so much for the contact, Alex!!!!! Captain Holmes of the Newark Fire Department is meeting me at our garden at 1:30pm to help water our plants.

Also, I'll soon be meeting with Norma Bowe and members of the Be The Change Foundation. They are highly supportive and lending helping hands to gardeners throughout the city. Norma asked to be added to our Google group and they will soon be assisting us with the transformation of our community garden.

Power to the People!!!! :-)

Dr. Bowe is a super star professor and has helped more people around the country (and soon the world I am sure) than I can even imagine.  Because of her and her team of students our garden was created on Saturday.

The universe giveth, and the universe taketh away. I definitely want to thank Brad Daniels and Greater Newark Conservancy for helping us this far. They have been a BIG help.

This experience has definitely been a roller coaster ride. But a ride that I'm glad to be on. Okay, we are in desparate need of the following:

1. A wheel barrel

2. Soil (enriched with composted manure if possible)

3. 2 compost bins

4. 4 rain barrels

If anyone can help us obtain any of the above items we would greatly appreciate it. Please read the email below.

Greetings Tobias,

You may deposit for compost bins if you wish.  I cannot promise delivery anytime soon.  It would be best if you pick them up once they are constructed.

I am under orders to discontinue soil deliveries at this time, and until such time our required work orders are fulfilled.

I will advise you when the next set of rain barrels become available for purchase.

As you know, we are in the dog days of summer.  Water distribution to the Conservancy’s leased lots must be my chief concern at this time.  Thus, other deliveries must be curtailed.

I will be in touch with you and informative as conditions improve.

Moving Forward,

Brad

P.S. Due to an upcoming tools and equipment audit,  I will need to collect the wheel barrel. Can we arrange to get it back here early next week?

Peace Brad,

Hope all is well and that you're keeping cool in this hot weather. I plan to stop by GNC today around 4pm. Hopefully I can catch you there. I would like to make the $40 donation to secure our 2 compost bins.

Also, we are desperate need of soil. We only received enough soil for 2 raised beds. We still have to fill two additional raised beds so we can plan additional produce. Can you help us out with this?

We are still in need of the following:

--soil to fill 2 raised beds

--2 compost bins

--4 additional rain barrels
