STOP THE MUSIC!!!! STOP THE MUSIC!!!!  We need all available hands and/or donated material.

Be The Change Foundation and SAS
I just received a surprising but pleasant phone call from Norma Rowe from Kean University and Be The Change Foundation. Norma informed me that she will be coming to our garden with about a dozen others to help us fully transform The People's Garden. With her will be carpeters, gardeners, painters, the works!

It's a fiesta!!!!
Is there a DJ in the house? Can we turn this into an even more festive event Saturday? Miguel's son stated that we can use their grill anytime. Maybe Saturday would be a great day for a barbeque?

Be there or be a circular square.
Because we are expecting hot weather Saturday, Norma stated that they would like to start at 7am. That's this Saturday folks, July 21, 2012 at 86 Garside St., Newark, NJ 07104 off of Park Avenue.

Materials needed:
  • I will reaach out to Mary so that we can transport our wheel barrel to the garden and ask if we could use her trimmer (weed whacker) for the day. We may want to trim down some of the weed on the other side of the lot to use as work space.
  • We need additional wood to build our green house and three additional raised beds with trellis.
  • Gardening tools and tool shed.
  • For our plastic bottle greenhouse we need 1000 2-litter plastic soda bottles.
  • We will need plenty of water to keep us all hydrated.
  • Food donations are always welcomed.
  • We need a power source so I'll be asking Damian to help with solar power and the residence, of course.
  • Colorful non edible plants that can be planted into the ground would really living the garden up a bit and attract butterflies.
  • Veggies (preferable greens and other plants that grow well in cool weather being that we're near the end of summer).
  • Fruit trees (that does require a lot of sun).
  • A power drill and electric saw.
  • Mulch and composted soil / topsoil.
  • Compost bins for kitchen scraps (seals to protect agains rodents.
  • Bird feeder, bird bath, and mailbox for the garden.
  • About a dozen of half size wine barrels (sold at Home Depot) or another large/long lasting container that could hold berry shrubs and dwarf fruit trees.
  • First aide kits

Hey Ellen! Hey Monica! Maybe there'll be some giveaways on the garden tour? If so, maybe you can pick us up something to plant? :-) Well, the both of you should definitely drive by the garden to see how things has come along since you won't be far from us. Hope to see you at Mary's 70th b-day celebration. :-) Either way, we'll talk and we'll post pictures.
