PICO New Jersey is a network of faith leaders, congregations and federations working to increase opportunity and reduce racial disparities across the state.  PICO New Jersey is currently working in partnership with some of the most forward-thinking healthcare providers in the nation to create local health-delivery systems that improve health outcomes for residents in underserved communities and reduce overall medical costs, savings which can then be reinvested back into the community to address residents’ priorities.  Lack of access to reliable medical transportation services is a primary barrier to health that has been shared in many of the communities that we serve. 
 
PICO New Jersey is seeking a part-time (20 hrs/week) Event Coordinator to plan and implement a statewide health care conference in September 2013.  The Event Coordinator will be responsible for handling the logistics, implementing the agenda, coordinating speakers and workshops, and confirming invited guests.  This position requires strong interpersonal skills, knowledge and comfort with online registration, experience in drafting formal documents, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities
 

   • Assist in planning the content and logistics for a 170 person conference
   • Confirm guest speakers & coordinate to prepare for presentations and workshops
   • Assist in drafting save-the-dates, invitations, and online registration
   • Manage an electronic guest list  & conduct outreach
   • Prepare formal agenda and documents for distribution at conference
   • Create staffing assignments and requests leading up to & during the conference
   • Confirm logistics including venue, catering, and audio visual
   • Coordinate all set-up and clean-up at the conference
   • Assist in fundraising efforts
   • Prepare summary of documents and presentation to distribute post-conference
   • Post  pictures and resources online post-conference

 
Qualifications:
 

   • Associates or Bachelors degree, or equivalent work experience
   • Experience coordinating large events
   • Strong writing and computer skills
   • Strong project and time management skills
   • Strong interpersonal and relational skills and interest in people
   • Disciplined and able to work effectively in highly unstructured environment
   • Attention to detail & ability to work independently
   • Experience working in communities of color
   • Experience in social justice, political, union organizing, community development or related work a plus
   • Experience in health care policy a plus
