Tobias,

The Keystone pipeline (aka KXL) is one of the more visible climate activities we have and as the following email recounts, we are staging a rally on Monday evening (5:30 p.m. at the Federal Building, 970 Broad Street, Newark, NJ) and could use all the help we can get. Please spread the word.

President Obama’s decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline just entered the final stretch. Join a local event this Monday.

Protest Keystone XL

TAKE ACTION

Dear Robert,

The State Department just issued its final report on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. Oil companies are spinning it as a victory, but the facts in the report provide President Obama with all he needs to reject the pipeline as a threat to our climate—a decision he will make within weeks.

On Monday, Forecast the Facts members are joining pipeline opponents at events across the country to tell President Obama to reject the pipeline and make good on his promise to act on climate change.

Attending or starting an event is really easy—and dozens have already popped up since the State Department announcement yesterday afternoon.

Find an event here, and spread the word.

The State Department report acknowledges that the pipeline would cause significant harm to the climate if approved by President Obama, but concludes that other projects would take its place if he rejects it—the same self-defeating logic that’s always used to rationalize inaction on climate change.

President Obama affirmed in his State of the Union speech last week that "we have to act with more urgency" on climate change. Let's show him that we agree, and won’t stand for any more excuses.

Factually yours,

Brant, Emily, Sylvie, Heidi, and the rest of the Forecast the Facts team
