Peace,

I sent this email out to members of this group. If you haven't received this email and would like to review the attached documents mentioned below please send me a reply and I will forward the docs to you. Also, I haven't received keys to the lot yet and will try to have some updated info regarding this by the end of the week.

I've attached two images of the lot as a means to remind you of what it currently looks like.

This link will take you to a layout created by organizer Dina Rodrigues of a possible arrangement of our garden:

Those at Greater Newark Conservancy (GNC) was really impressed with the layout. If anyone has any suggestions, comments, or concerns about this feel free to contact Dina at ca39dro...@yahoo.com or you can simply email the entire group through our Google group.

Also, I've attached an assessment of the approach we plan to take in regards to the community garden. Please let me know what you think.

If you know someone that would also like to join our group you can send them the information below as a means to help them better understand what we're currently about. :-)

JOIN US! :-)

Newark's Science & Sustainability Working Group

Mission Statement: Taking the approach of social entrepreneurship, we are an autonomous international working group interested in assisting communities throughout the country with the exploration and utilization of free, abundant, renewable energy through teach-ins and hands-on training. We will also promote and assist with the creation of community and hydroponic gardens to ensure that the produce grown is fresh and organic.

We are a diverse group of college students, professionals, educators, and technicians from Newark and the surrounding cities working collectively for the common good of all life on this delicate planet of ours.

We are currently building solar panels with soda cans, exploring hydroponic gardening, supporting and touring local farms, creating community gardens, and painting sidewalks white as a means to help reduce greenhouse gases and bring the problem of urban island heat effect to the attention of neighbors.

We meet every other Saturday, usually at Essex County College, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. You can also add yourself to our Google group [https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups#!managemembers/on-science-and-sustainability-working-group/add] or send a request to be added to organizers Tobias A. Fox (tobia...@gmail.com) Dina Rodrigues, or Monica (camps...@gmail.com).

Hello
Layout looks good to me.  If sunflowers, zinnias don't fit in, that's ok.  Depending on how much space and sun, there could be a kind of sunflower and/or zinnia border.

Okay, this all sounds good. We'll see how things pan out once we are able to get into the lot and begin working. Hopefully, Carol from City Hall will give us the approval to begin working one day this week.

I agree, depending on the space - I gotta say sunflowers are so
cheerful and welcoming, they would be great in the garden.

The lease has been executed.  We are now welcome to go on the lot and begin our work. :-) I believe there's still a lock on the gate. I will look into this and get back with you all.
