About 4-H
4-H Youth Development programs have served the young people of the US for over 100 years. Our mission is to use a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. Our programs are offered to youth in grades k-13 at minimal or no cost to youth without regard for ethnicity, race, national origin, sex, religion, or ability.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age relevant activities around the topics of urban gardening, outdoor education, recycling, compost, or other discipline.
- Produce or modify lessons plans with the appropriate, worksheets and hands-on activities that relate to assigned program topics.
- Work with 4-H program sites to improve programs and increate effective teaching and learning relationships
- Attend 4-H trainings and staff meetings
- Administer program evaluations
- Participate in program planning
- Be flexible and a self starter comfortable with minimum direction.
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
- BA/BS in any youth development discipline or proven equivalent experience
- Experience working directly with urban youth K-12
- Experience teaching outdoor education or environmental education is preferred.
- Computer Literate, knowledge of YouTube and social media, Imovie or other movie making software.
Training/ Support
County 4-H staff will be available for support and assistance and will provide training on experiential learning, 4-H curriculum, and provide resources and materials.
