Do you want a rain barrel or cistern on your garden or farm?
The City of Newark Office of Sustainability is working in partnership with the Newark Resiliency Action Plan partners and the Department of Water & Sewer Utilities to provide 70 free rain barrels to Newark property owners (to learn more, please visit https://www.newarknj.gov/card/rain-barrel).
Funding for this special project was available through a one-year grant called the "Cities of Service Prepared Together Program". Unfortunately, the Newark Prepared Together funding is limited, and the demand for rain barrel has far exceeded what is available.
Many Newark-based growers have expressed an interest in receiving rain barrels or cisterns to support their local urban agriculture efforts. The following short survey is designed to help the City of Newark better understand the specific rainwater harvesting opportunity available on urban farms and community gardens.
Please help us spread the word by forwarding this survey to others in the Newark urban agriculture community!
Thank you in advance for your time! To learn more about how the City of Newark is working to become cleaner, greener, healthier, more prepared and more engaged, please visit: www.newarknj.gov/sustainability.

Do you want a rain barrel or cistern on your garden or farm? Complete the 3-question survey here: www.bit.ly/newarkrainharvest
I’m just trying to get a feel for gardener needs related to rainwater harvesting – the survey questions are: 1) Are folks interested in being considered for a rain barrel or cistern; 2) Do they currently have one, and; 3) How much water do they use in a typical week during the growing season?
