Hello Tobias!

May this email find you in both great spirit and health. First, allow me to thank those of you who attended an earlier workshop on the problems and solutions to managing our stormwater in the City of Newark.

Over the pass three months, other G.I. Reformers, along with myself, have facilitated workshops, attended community meetings, and engaged in in-service training; all relevant to identifying and discussing cost-effective solutions to provide Newark's communities with cleaner water and healthier homes. The aforementioned was necessary and vital in our effort to remain best advised, and discuss solutions for residents affected by current dirty water conditions. Moreover, problems and solutions to best address unhealthy homes throughout not just the East Ward of Newark, but the entire city.

I am pleased to share with you an invitation from Newark DIG and the G.I. Reformers team to attend a city-wide workshop with other local champions, community stakeholders and representatives from local and state-wide clean water organizations.

The workshop will take place on Sat., Nov. 5 at Bethany Baptist Church, 275 West Market Street, Newark, 9:30am - 12:00pm.

Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be provided.

Please contact for transportation assistance.

Come join with your fellow community members to learn more about solutions of cleaning up our local waterways, reducing flooding and dirty water in our neighborhoods.

Local Champions, will participate and contribute to dialogue on issues affecting their community, receive routine updates as it relates to funding & project updates, news on resources, as well as employment opportunities.Local Champions will also serve as ambassadors, sharing information with other community members, and also potentially will be featured in newsletters and other future publications, beginning in January 2017.

PS.  Jersey Water Works, a state-wide collaboration working on clean water, is holding a free, public two-hour workshop on Oct. 25, 1:30pm - 3:30pm at the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority and will take place in their conference room on the 17th floor at One Newark Center, 1075 Raymond Blvd. in Newark.   The workshop will offer an overview of effective, innovative communications strategies that community organizations, environmental groups and others can use to educate stakeholders about the importance of investing in water infrastructure upgrades.  For more information and how to register, please visit: http://www.jerseywaterworks.org/event/communicate-water-issues-engage-stakeholders/
