Position Summary: The part-time Community Garden Coordinator works directly with the Program Operations Manager in providing on-site support for community garden leaders in Passaic County as part of the Dig In! program. This seasonal position will start in April and conclude in October. The Coordinator will work 2 weekdays and 1 Saturday a week for a total of 20 hours a week.
The Coordinator is actively engaged with Passaic County community gardens to develop membership and committees, organize workdays, recruit community volunteers, foster partnerships and assist garden leaders in maintaining gardens and coordinating activities. The ideal candidate will be a team player who can interact well with a wide range of individuals from a variety of social, ethnic, and organizational backgrounds, is detail oriented, is comfortable with working outside and is familiar with Passaic County, New Jersey.
The Community Garden Coordinator will spend a majority of their time working outside with community garden groups and some time allocated towards planning and coordinating events and activities.
