Free Green Career Lesson Plans Available to Educators, Growers, and Youth Leaders
Newark, NJ — February 25, 2026 — A new collection of free, complimentary lesson plans introducing students to careers in horticulture, agriculture, sustainability, and the broader green industry is now available through Seed Your Future. These resources promote career exploration and hands-on learning across classrooms, community gardens, farms, and youth serving organizations.
The lessons were developed by a national cohort of educators committed to expanding equitable access to green career pathways. Amarilys Olivo Mockabee, a 2025 Seed to Stem Educator and member of the 2025 Seed Your Future Educator Cohort, contributed to the creation of lessons centered on sustainability and real world agricultural career connections.
“Providing free, high-quality instructional resources removes a critical barrier for schools and community based programs. These lessons help students see themselves in green careers while giving educators ready to use materials at no cost,” said Mockabee.
The lessons are appropriate for K–12 classrooms, after-school programs, Career and Technical Education pathways, and informal learning environments, and are especially useful for educators planning activities during Green Career Week (March 2–6, 2026).

Good afternoon,
You’re invited to join us tomorrow for a community-centered Environmental Justice Mixer and Mini-Workshop focused on how air quality impacts heart health right here in Newark.
This event brings together members of the NAACP and the South Ward Environmental Alliance (SWEA) Air Quality Monitoring Advisory Board to break down:
• What PM2.5 and truck pollution mean for our neighborhoods
• How air pollution moves from the lungs into the bloodstream
• Why it increases cardiovascular strain and heart health risks
• What this looks like specifically in Newark
We’ll have a short educational walkthrough, interactive discussion, and time to connect with neighbors and local leaders who care about environmental justice and community health.
📍 Location: SWEA Office, 1067 ½ Bergen Street
🗓 Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026
⏰ Time: 11:00am
