Dear colleagues,

Winter has only just arrived, and already New Jersey's homeless are freezing to death. The time to act is now. 

Since Sandy hit last year, the ranks of the homeless in NJ have swelled. There are as-yet-uncounted scores of people sleeping in tents or behind dumpsters, many of whom were not homeless before Sandy. In addition, countless individuals and families are still living rough in their own homes, in houses with no furnace, on second floors with gutted ground floors, or even in garages. These examples are all anecdotal, yes, but they are very real.

Occupy Sandy is working to find temporary solutions to help these people get through the winter, but we can't do it alone. We need your help.

Please join us this coming Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 8pm for an urgent statewide conference call to share best practices, discuss innovative new approaches, brainstorm possible solutions, and ultimately bring together the stakeholders necessary to ensure that everyone who needs a warm bed this winter can find one.
