  Mandela Washington Fellows Partner with Newark SaS for a Transformative Experience in Sustainability and Community Action.
The 2025 Mandela Washington Fellows have been actively engaging with Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. (Newark SaS) through a dynamic series of activities focused on environmental justice, sustainable living, and global leadership.
 At the Garden of Hope, they joined community members in hands-on urban farming, supporting Newark SaS’s mission to build local food systems and empower neighborhoods through sustainability.
 The Fellows also took part in the Sustainable Living Empowerment Conference, where they contributed to rich discussions around climate solutions, clean energy, food justice, and social entrepreneurship—sharing global insights while learning from local leaders.
This meaningful exchange reflects the power of collaboration across cultures, communities, and continents. Together, we’re planting seeds of change and growing a more just, sustainable world.
