Temp Job: Canvasser,  NJ Main Street Alliance

PAID CANVASSER JOB DESCRIPTION

The New Jersey Main Street Alliance, (NJ-MSA) is a project of New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund.  It is an advocacy network of 1300 small businesses across NJ, which raises the voices of small business owners on policy issues that impact themselves, their employees, and the community.   NJ-MSA is currently seeking individuals who want to work in our paid canvass program.

Canvassers will be contacting small business owners in a store-to-store outreach campaign for comprehensive immigration reform.  Canvassers will be gathering petitions on NJ-MSA’s small business principles for common sense immigration reform, asking business owners to display a window sign, identifying hot contacts for follow-up and recruiting leaders.

Program Description:
• Canvassers will work 8 hours a day, 2 or 4 days a week, for 12 weeks.  (Tues-Fri)
• The salary will be $10/hr

Job Requirements:
1. Dedication to social and economic justice, human rights.
2. Fluent English speaker, other languages preferred but not required.
3. Physical ability to do lots of walking.
5. Positive attitude.
6. Basic computer skills required.
7. Must be on time.
8. Ability to fill out accurate daily reports.
10. Previous canvassing, campaign experience a plus.
11. Car required.
