ARTS AND CULTURE ANNOUNCEMENT
Come one, come all!!!! Join us this Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6pm -8pm at the corner of Walnut and Christopher Streets in Montclair, NJ on the shady knoll overlooking Kaveny Baseball Field, which is near 119 Grove Street.
At this event there will be:
- a bunch of mud enthusiasts of all ages
-lots of clay rich virgin subsoil dug from the depths of Upper Montclair
-some water
-sand
-the spirit of community
-the spirits of creativity and festivity
-some refreshments
Activities include:
- being the non-muddy audience observing and taking mental notes,
-preparing and serving food,
-drums and percussion,
-barefoot mud stomping,
-mud bathing,
-mud blob making,
-applying a smooth mud plaster to a couple structures that we have built,
-learning about unfired/sundried earthen construction methods, including cob and mud brick building. which are extremely sustainable building methods that are experiencing a revival around the world for their many benefits.
As far as New Jersey is concerned, this program started in Newark (where we built a bench) and we are looking for ways to bring it back there.
