Webinar on Cannabis Legalization and Social Justice
(This webinar will be in English and Spanish)
As more and more states seek legalization, it has been clear that cannabis policy is a civil rights and racial justice issue. It is recognized that the war on drugs was and is a racist endeavor that purposefully harmed communities of color for decades. Drug reform laws should be designed to right some of those wrongs and to rehabilitate and empower the victims of the drug war and their communities. As the stage is being set for a cannabis industry in New Jersey, how does it affect people with a cannabis-related criminal record, and how can we ensure that the New Jersey’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission will prioritize racial and social equity in access to the new legal weed industry?
