Hello Bike Exchange community!
To everyone involved over the past two years; thanks! My name is Ryan, and many of you may already know me, but to those who don’t; hello! I hope you’ll come by to help out this upcoming season.
As you have recently heard from Paul Scire, the new CEO of BGCN, I’ve taken the role as Manager of the Bike Exchange. Why? Because I love bikes. As you may remember, my wife and I volunteered with the Bike Exchange during its first season in Newark. Additionally, I have logged thousands of miles bike touring, helped found the New Brunswick Bike Library, turned wrenches professionally, built custom bicycle frames, and taught Newark youth about bike mechanics and design. I hope these pursuits will contribute to sustaining and growing the Bike Exchange. Combined with all of your individual strengths and talents, I know we’ll have a great upcoming season.
My vision is a fun, welcoming, easy to use, and diverse environment for people who want to get a bike, learn about bikes, get their bike repaired, and volunteer to make it all possible. To do this, I need your help.
I invite all of you to attend one of two meetings (I wanted to give everyone a chance to make it) on Thursday, April 4th from 7-8pm or Saturday, April 6th from 10-11am to discuss the opportunities for the new Bike Exchange. These meetings will give you a chance to see the shop, meet each other, and discuss your ideas and the various ways to be involved. Please feel free to stay longer on Saturday to help organize the shop.
Thanks again for your interest and commitment. I look forward to seeing you at the Bike Exchange!
Best,
Ryan Reedell
