Hello Tobias,
Here is the information about the Willie Cole Water Bottle Project.

OVERVIEW
Thousands of plastic water bottles are discarded every day, impacting both the environment on a large scale and individuals on a daily basis. While traditional recycling is meant to handle the majority of the used bottles, the process of “Upcycling” offers another solution that is creative in nature and engages the community. Simply stated, Upcycyling is a process that converts
the trash into treasure, or in the case of this proposal—trash into art. Project benefits include building community pride, cleaning up the streets and public community spaces by reducing water bottle litter, tapping into individual creative energy, providing residents with an opportunity to become art makers, pride in creating an original work of art, and positive identification of Newark as a place of awareness for this larger global issue.
OBJECTIVE
Under the direction of Willie Cole, an internationally acclaimed artist with deep roots in and ongoing involvement with Newark, engage residents of the designated Newark neighborhood to work together as a community to create a Water Bottle Giant Sculpture (see attached photos) that can remain on permanent view and belong to the community. If established as an
artist-in-residence program, this, and similar water bottle projects can allow art to become an on-going part of the neighborhood. In addition to the teamwork required to accomplish this, other key components that will engage and enrich residents are environmental education and art-making skills.
