This year youth will work in greenhouses and farm sites to cultivate seeds, and grow food for low-access communities and Senior housing centers. They will partner with local businesses like Ruthie’s BBQ, River Valley Community Grains, and Montclair Bread to design and develop their products from seed to sale and inspire and empower youth to meet their potential.
Montclair Community Farms is currently in its planning phase and looking for new partners, and businesses to connect their youth too. They are looking for BIPOC workshop presenters, farms/community projects to visit.
The goals of this program, which will continue to grow for the next two years, is to empower youth to address food security and the lack of youth employment opportunities, expand the market for local organic grains and produce in New Jersey, and provide young people with hands-on job experiences and chances to gain agricultural, culinary, entrepreneurial, and life skills. We understand the value in investing in our youth and would love to set some time to discuss the work you are doing and how we can connect in more detail."
