THE TREE

What do we see when we look at a Christmas tree
Do we remember the reason for the season and day?
We can put Christ first in all that we say and do
As we think on our Lord and the true gospel way.

He is the light of the world encircling it with love,
There is no other like He,
God sent down his Son from heaven above,
Salvation was freely given for you and for me.

The star placed on the branches above
Recalls to mind His Spirit who brightens our life,
Without Christ in our heart we would not walk in truth,
He makes us free and takes away sin and strife.

The gifts that we see beneath the Christmas tree
Are all earthly, but shared with our love,
His gifts from above are the greatest of all
Freely He gives to us. as Heaven's Holy Dove.

We worship and adore Christ Jesus our Lord
Who willingly died on a tree for our sins,
Because of his sacrifice....we are given the gift of life
His love makes it Christmas, freely given to all men.
