DIFFERENT TYPE OF CURE
"Every day will I bless thee and I will praise thy name for ever and
ever."
--- Psalms 145:2.
********************************
In this holiday season, we see so many people who are worried,
depressed, or lonely.
The hectic schedules and tasks to be accomplished in this season is
very depressing
for many people. Some go into debt buying gifts for others and become
depressed in
what should be a joyous celebration of our Lord and Savior. Yet, in
all the activities,
many times the reason for the season is not the real focus.
People resort to different means to try and overcome their symptoms.
Yet, many cannot
seem to pull out of their state of mind. The enemy of our souls will
try to oppress with thoughts of gloom, doom, or despair. Yet, we need
to remember, Jesus said He
would always be there.
In every moment of every day, we have His Spirit to comfort and guide
us. Our Lord will never leave or forsake us and has the solution for
all of life's many problems. God is so good to us! When we try God
first, we find worries won't last.
There is a story told of a man in Wales who visited his Doctor because
of discouragement
and depression, although he had no symptoms of any serious illness.
His Physician took
a look at him and gave him a different prescription than what he had
been used to receiving. The man was told that for the next six weeks
he was to say "Thank You" to everyone who did him a favor and to show
his appreciation to everyone with a smile. In six weeks, the man
returned to the Doctor. He was healthier and happier than he had
ever been!
Giving thanks to God each day is one prescription that will help one
to become encouraged
in Christ. As we give thanks to God in appreciation and also others
in the body of Christ,
we find we are happier and healthier. God can do for us what no one
else can do.
He is not just any Physician, He is the "Great Physician." He is the
Lord our God that
is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. Jesus is our Healer,
Helper, and health
of our countenance.
God's Word tells us of one who made a vow to thank the Lord every day
of his life, not just for six weeks. This was David the Psalmist, who
was a man after God's own heart. Every day of his life David blessed
God and said he would praise His name forever and ever. David knew
the secret to success in His walk with the Lord. This same truth is
shared with us today in God's Word. We have a divine prescription and
know that the joy of the Lord will be our strength.
When we look at all our many blessings, we see we have more for which
to be thankful
than problems to worry about which might try to weigh us down. The
sufferings of this
present life are not worthy to be compared with the glory to be
revealed hereafter. We have a loving Savior who gave His life for
us and longs to be our everything! Not only does he want to be our
Savior, but Lord over every area of our lives as we surrender to Him.
Sometimes a change of attitude brings a change of heart and restores
health. The joy of
the Lord is our strength. If one wants true joy, all they have to do
is abide in Christ and let his love fill their heart and life. If we
ask, we shall receive that our joy might be full. Dwelling in the
secret place of the most High God brings us fullness of joy.
Our prayer is that we might see the benefits of having a grateful
heart of thanksgiving and
let God's love give us a compassionate heart. We have blessings of
forgiveness, restoration, health, peace, and God's grace for which to
be thankful and praise His holy name. The "thank you" cure is one
remedy which is not only worth trying, but should be practiced all the
days of our lives. God really is so good to us....all the time!
