Dear friends
After some twenty years of running On Bouge it is time for me to hang up my organiser's hat! I will keep it going up to the Christmas On Bouge and I very much hope someone else or a group of people will appear to keep it going. Is it YOU?
Your French Dance Club Needs You!
On Bouge was one of the first, if not the first, French dance clubs in England, I believe, founded in about 1990 by a group of people including Jessica Abrahams. I really want it to keep going, but I'm running out of steam. It was difficult to keep going during Lockdown, but I think our On Bouge ZoomBals helped people to cope by directing live music into their kitchens and living rooms. And we got restarted quickly with face-to-face bals just as soon as we could, in September 2021.
We have booked Dave Shepherd and Anna Pack for Friday 13 October in order to start the 2023/24 season with a clout and I am thinking how to organise the November and December dates; my last few months are NOT about saving money! So watch this space.
Caroline and I (Duo Mistral) will still be available as musicians and dance teachers - we have of course a pretty extensive repertoire of music, dances and dance styles from Auvergne, Bourbonnais, Béarn, Brittany, to Gascony and Limousin, amongst others, and will always be happy to share both music and dance.
And we will sans doute organise specific events with British, Belgian and French friends.
Thank you for your support over the years. J'espére que ca continue :-)
