After some 30 years On Bouge is coming to an end this coming Friday. I'm sad about it :-( but after about 20 years at the helm it's time for me to take a break. When I said back in June that I would be retiring I really really hoped that someone would take over. But sadly no one has turned up. :-( So we'd love to see all our old friends this one last time.
Ticket price: There will be a bucket for you to put in whatever you want!
There are other clubs that do French dance, but we have concentrated more on traditional dances as they are done in their pays, whether Bretagne or Auvergne, Gascogne or Béarn ou n'importe où en France. The aim has been to dance the dances correctly but always with fun.
Caroline and I (Duo Mistral) together have some 60 years experience of playing for, dancing and teaching these dances and we intend to continue to do so wherever we can - please ask us: Ch...@gigcb.com :-). And we will also in the future organise occasional weekend events.
But we've had a fine dynamic On Bouge autumn with Dave Shepherd and Anna Pack and Nigel Eaton and Anna Pack - two brilliant evenings of great music and dance.
And we're continuing that with the Christmas Party. Our lovely regular musicians John Offord, Dave Chatterley and Peter Kanssen will be playing, together with Duo Mistral, Deux Sans Frontières and The Famous Five Fiddlers. Our old friend David Heath is also turning up to play. and there will be CAKE and BUBBLY to toast the wonderful 30 years of On Bouge.
