Whose signoff is the above quote? First one to get it right can buy Mike Ott a meal. If there are no guesses at all, Mike will be crushed and rightfully so.

 

 

I am not prepared for another election season and suspect this one will be worse than usual. There is more money available to buy ads. There is more vitriol (I think) than usual. We have forgotten or never knew that an American idol should not be a political term. It appears that the politics of the 2012 presidential election will be nothing to point to with pride. We create an idol when we ascribe attributes or place inordinate hope in persons or things that should belong only to God. The Kingdom of God is not equal to the kingdoms of politics. Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Tea Partyists? Sorry, they do not shape our faith.

Liberal/Conservative, Left and Right are political categories. They are not religious ones. The Religious Right was blasphemous from the beginning. The Religious Left? Please. Both make the same theological mistake. Faith is different from a political party.

 

Be prepared. When disagreement occurs, political sides do the same thing: Identify a scary problem and encourage fear. Then, blame the other side. Can you imagine the two sides working together to solve a problem? No, not at election time. They don’t work together. They are running to win.
