Onroad vehicles require a headset pairing to listen to turn-by-turn navigation, music and answer phone calls. You can pair multiple headsets to your vehicle, but only one headset can be connected at a time. After the vehicle is powered on, charged and nearby headsets that have previously been paired to the vehicle will automatically connect.

6. If the pairing process is not completed within 3 minutes, the 10U headset will return to stand-by mode. If pairing is unsuccessful, repeat these steps until the headset has been paired to your phone.

Note: If a Bluetooth connection between the headset and a mobile phone is disconnected, press the Center Button for 3 seconds until you hear a high tone single beep to recover the Bluetooth connection immediately. If the Bluetooth connection between the headset and a media player is disconnected, press the Center Button for 1 second to recover the Bluetooth connection and play.

Second Mobile Phone or Bluetooth Device Pairing

Typical Bluetooth headsets can connect with only one Bluetooth device, but a second mobile phone pairing allows the headset to connect with another Bluetooth device such as a second mobile phone, an MP3 Player, or the SENA SR10, the Bluetooth adapter.

Note: If you have two audio (A2DP) devices connected to your headset then the audio from one device will interrupt the audio from the other device. For example, if you are playing music from the primary mobile phone, it can be interrupted by playing music from the secondary mobile phone and vice versa.

I have an SRC system in my Schuberth C3 pro and want to be able to talk with my buddy who has a Sena on his helmet ( not sure which model). Can these models connect by doing a standard paring of helmets?

What I have found with the Sena SMH10 is that I could not pair to my friends Ncom in the universal pairing mode, But I was able to pair up using the multi point pairing mode, don't ask how or why but this works. This is the only way we found to be able to make the different units talk to each other. My unit is still paired up to my phone so I can receive calls and listen to music

They all claim that they can connect to other manufactures, but ???? it don't always work that way. My riding partner and I have had many discussion on this topic. He bought an N com and everybody else has Sena units. Bottom line if you buy all the same units you have a lot less issues, yes hide sight is always 20/20. good luck with your units you might find a way to make them connect but then again you might not.

You can have an intercom conversation with non-Sena Bluetooth headsets using the Universal Intercom function. Non-Sena Bluetooth headsets can be connected to the Sena Bluetooth headset if they support the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP).

The working distance may differ depending on the performance of Bluetooth headset that it is connected to. In general, it is shorter than normal intercom distance since it uses the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile.

The Universal Intercom affects both the phone call connection and the multipoint connection (mostly used for GPS connections for riders). You cannot use a multipoint connection device while you are using the Universal Intercom in case as below.

3. If non-Sena headset (already paired as Universal Intercom with Sena) is turned on, then the multipoint connection is automatically deactivated. And the non-Sena headset is automatically connected to Sena headset as a Universal Intercom. So you cannot use multipoint connection devices such as GPS, while a non-Sena headset is turned on.

4. Even though you disconnect the non-Sena headset as a Universal Intercom, it will not automatically restore the multipoint connection. To restore the multipoint connection, you should turn off the non-Sena headset first, then try to connect to multipoint device manually from the device screen or simply reboot the device so that it automatically connects to the Sena headset.

The SMH10 can be paired with non-Sena Bluetooth headsets for Bluetooth intercom conversation. You can pair the SMH10 with only one non-Sena Bluetooth headset; if you pair with a different non-Sena Bluetooth headset, the previous pairing list will be removed.

If you have another device, like say your phone, paired and connected to the Sena the Nano is not going to find it. Turn off Bluetooth on any other device you've paired with the headset, put the Sena in pairing mode and then when the Nano sees the Sena tap the name to connect.

Turn headset ON by pressing the 'Jog dial' (large dial on the left side) and the 'Phone button' (small button located under and to the side of the Jog dial) at the same time. ON state indicated by a blue LED and ascending tones.

Same as SPH10 headsets. Phone button is located on the side next to the jog dial.

For new firmware (v5.0) use jog dial to pair to everything other than another SMH10. Hold for longer for 'universal pairing mode'

Older iterations of Sena motorcycle headsets came with universal connections, which meant the would pair with any other Bluetooth headset you used. Anything in the 20, 10, or 5 series of Sena headsets will easily pair with Cardo.

However, the newer 30 and 50 series from Sena dropped the universal connection feature. This has made it just a little but more difficult to pair new Sena models with anything made my Cardo.

The good news is that all Cardo headsets have the universal intercom feature, from the cheap Spirit and Freecom to the newest products like the Packtalk Custom and Packtalk EDGE. This is thanks to the Cardo 3.2 firmware update in July 2023. Cardo even added Mesh compatibility in September 2023, allowing for Sena Mesh groups to join a Cardo Mesh group with a Cardo unit as a bridge. Still, the easiest experience will be if everyone in your group is on the same brand.

It can be easier to remember the process to pair Cardo with Sena using Cardo as the primary device since all Cardo headsets have universal connection while not all Senas do. Quick tutorial video here.

I still recommend you pick up a Cardo Packtalk EDGE or Packtalk Custom and get your whole group on this standard. Cardo units are made for riders by riders; they are fully waterproof with easy-to-use physical and voice assistant controls, and the EDGE and custom both have 15 person intercom on DMC Mesh included standard. Seamless and easy. Get back to riding!

The Cardo line is much simpler to understand; all Cardo units in the Spirit, Packtalk and Freecom ranges have universal connectivity. This means any headset from Sena or another brand can pair to a Cardo and be involved in the intercom or DMC network between riders.

Hi, I have Sena SRL Mesh and SRL Ext for my Shoei helmets. Both are having Universal Intercom Pairing function but there is no way to connect it with that option to Cardo. I can connect it with cardo only using phone slot but after 10-15 second connection is closed. Can You help?

My question is, if I connect to my riding buddies Cardo Packtalk Bold via the Bluetooth slot and then transfer it to the mesh element, do I still have the restrictions of the Bluetooth distance, or do I then get the benefit of the mesh connection distance?

Thank you Evan for your tips reg connecting the two systems.

Even if my Nexx X-Com (Sena 10R) support Universal Bluetooth I was not able to establish a connection to Packtalk.

What I could do was connecting to one Cardo Device over Bluetooth and then I could join the Packtalk group. Everyone could hear me and I could talk with all other. However my connection was creating a lot of background noises and thus it was very disturbing.

Even if I lower VOX level to lowest on my sena and I did activate noise reduction.

Do you maybe have any other hint for me how to join the DMC packtalk?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but If I have a Cardo Packtalk Edge, will I be able to connect and communicate with 2 (two) Sena 50S users on a ride (not in a group, just the three of us), or can you only bring 2 Sena users into a mesh/intercom Card-group?

When powering on the headset, press the jog Dial and the Phone button at the same time until the blue LED appears while hearing the ascending beeps. When powering off the headset, press the Jog Dial and the Phone Button at the same time until the red LED appears briefly and the headset turns off completely while hearing descending beeps.

You can charge the headset by connecting the supplied USB power & data cable into a computer USB port or USB wall charger. You can use any standard micro-USB cable to charge the headset. The LED turns red while the headset is charging and turns blue when it is fully charged. It takes about 2.5 hours to be completely charged.

When you power on the headset, keep pressing the Jog Dial and the Phone Button simultaneously for about 3 seconds until you hear three, high toned beeps. Then you will hear voice prompt indicating the battery level. However, if you release the buttons as soon as the headset turns on, you will not hear the voice prompt for the battery level indication.

The volume is set and maintained independently at different levels for each audio source even when you turn off and on the headset. For example, once you set the volume for mobile phone handsfree, it will not change even if you adjust the volume for your Bluetooth MP3 music. So you can always maintain the preferred optimum volume level for each audio source.

You can remotely control the 20S EVO via Bluetooth using the Remote Control (sold separately). This eliminates the need to take off your hand for button operations. Your 20S EVO and the Remote Control must be paired together before use.

3. Simply tap the Jog Dial of any one of the two headsets A or B and wait until the LEDs of both headsets turn to blue and intercom connection is automatically established. The two headsets A and B are paired with each other for intercom conversation. If the pairing process is not completed within one minute, the 20S EVO will return to stand-by mode.
