When you start an Microsoft 365 app that's not activated, you'll be prompted to sign in to Microsoft 365. Be sure to sign in using the Microsoft account, or work or school account, that you used to buy or subscribe to Microsoft 365.
To use Microsoft 365 on your new device, you can activate Microsoft 365 as a 1-month trial of Microsoft 365 Family. You can also buy Microsoft 365, add Microsoft 365 to an existing Microsoft 365 subscription, or enter a product key from a new product key card. If you have an older copy of Microsoft 365, you can install that instead.
A digital product key is transmitted to your PC, so you won't need or receive a printed product key. You activate Microsoft 365 by signing in with a Microsoft account. If we detect your Microsoft account, we'll show it on this screen. After you sign in, your product is added to your Microsoft account, so that you can reinstall it later, or manage your new subscription, without a product key.
If you bought Office Professional Plus, Visio Professional, or Project Professional through your employer's Microsoft Workplace Discount Program (formerly known as Microsoft Home Use Program) benefit, select I don't want to sign in or create an account (at the bottom of the screen) and enter your product key.
If you bought a new Microsoft 365 product key card, or you received a product key when you bought Microsoft 365through an online store, go to Office.com/setup or Microsoft365.com/setup and follow the on-screen prompts. This is a one-time process that adds your new product to your Microsoft account. After you redeem your key, you can install Office.
If Microsoft 365 can't activate, it eventually becomes unlicensed and all editing features of Microsoft 365 are disabled. Microsoft can become unlicensed for a number of reasons. For example, if your Microsoft 365 subscription expires, you must renew your subscription to restore all features of Microsoft 365.
If your Office has expired, consider purchasing or subscribing to the latest version of Microsoft Office. This will provide the necessary product key and keep you up-to-date with updates and features.
Are you seeking ways to activate Microsoft Office? There are a few options! You can activate it without a product key, or with one. Or, you can activate an expired version for free. Furthermore, we will discuss how to activate Microsoft Word and Office 365 without payment. Lastly, we will provide instructions on activating Microsoft Office 2019.
Once you have a product key, the activation process is fairly simple. Open an Office application and follow the prompts to enter your product key. This will activate your copy of Microsoft Office and unlock all its features.
For a free Office 365 activation, consider signing up for an educational account. Many schools offer students and faculty access to Office 365 with their school email addresses. This allows you to use all its features without paying for a subscription.
Unfortunately not helpful @Connor959. I'm using the new version of outlook for mac, and have copilot accessible for outlook in the browser, but not desktop app. There is no extended description, guide or material available that I've found anywhere helping with this for mac. The closest you get is this description on learn.microsoft.com and requirements for m365 copilot, but no further help with how "to sync your Microsoft 365 settings".
It is however active in word, excel and powerpoint for desktop as you stated @AndyF. Excuse the Norwegian, but you only need to update the license for M365 apps in the same way as for windows OS. As found in the attached picture. When completed in any of the office apps it will be activated for all of them.
@AndyF Update on my original post. Without my having done anything, Copilot did eventually show up in Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel. Not showing up in OneNote, though that's not entirely surprising. The Mac version of OneNote is much less robust than the Windows version.
I want to paste from Excel to Word, and the file may already exist or not. By searching existing threads I have solved this for creating a new file, for newly opening an existing file, but I dont succeed when the document is opened by Word already.
I moved the "Visible" to the end, but the behaviour is "strange". When the document is newly opened, a window comes up but stays in the back behind other windows open. When the document was open before, no window appears at all. How can I get the window with the Word document to the front in any case? (this was what happened when I tested before)
Now its o.k. - and thanks also for making me aware that for delivering this to Excel 2007 users I have to add another extension when creating a new file (if you dont mind to answer: is this true or would xls still be accepted?).
With my fat figures I tested a 2007 format and saved the file as mytest.doc and word helpfully add the 2007 format extension of .docx
So whilst my double extension is not incorrect it is sloppy and I should have sorted it out.
So, as you know, in my code I have to check for a full file name, so it makes a difference whether Excel 2007 saves it as .doc or .docx. Would you rather check for the Excel version inside the code (how?) and use the appropriate extension, or can I force Excel 2007 to save as .doc?
So far I thought that from xl2000 to xl2003 the format is the same, just some functionality (like rotation for shapes) will not work in xl2000. Wheres the difference really? (when searching the forum I found a link for saving tricks, but it didnt work anymore)
I opened a word document for an item return. I noticed it was in "English US" so I looked at the Language options within WORD. I noticed that the 3 languages (English Australian, English UK, and English US were all installed, but the English UK was NOT enabled. I clicked the "NOT ENABLED" link, to activate that, and MWB blocked it as an "exploit" although this ONLY appears to be a dialogue between the Control Panel Settings program, and WORD or Keyboard settings. Please check out this probable false positive. I am using MWB version 4.5.19.229.

Microsoft Office includes popular tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc. Depending on how to get or purchase Office, the Office activation process may be different. This post teaches you how to activate Microsoft Office 365/2021/2019/2016/2013 by using different ways. A free Office file recovery tool is also provided to help you recover deleted or lost Office documents with ease.
You can also activate Office for free if you start a 1-month free trial of Microsoft 365 Family. You can try the activated Office version for one month. If you subscribe to a Microsoft 365 plan, then you can download, install, and use Microsoft Office tools for free.
If you bought Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 suite from Microsoft Store, you can go to -us/store/b/sale, click Sign in at the top-right corner to sign in with your Microsoft account that you used to buy Office. After that, you can click your name at the top-right corner and click Order History. Find your purchase of Office and click Install Office to view your product key.
For schools, companies, or other organizations, you can use a KMS software product to automatically activate Office products without entering a license key. The Key Management Service (KMS) is an activation service that allows organizations to activate systems within their own network. The KMS client can look for a local KMS server and activate the software like Windows OS or Office products for 180 days. After 180 days, you may need to reactivate Office again by using the KMS tool.
If you mistakenly deleted some Microsoft Office documents like Word files, Excel files, PPT files, etc. you can firstly search and find the target files in Windows Recycle Bin. If you emptied the Recycle Bin, then you need to utilize a professional data recovery software to recover the deleted Office documents. Still, if you deleted some files from a USB flash drive, they will also be permanently deleted. You still need a data recovery tool to help you recover the deleted files from USB.
You can use MiniTool Power Data Recovery to easily recover deleted/lost MS Office files or any other kind of files from a Windows PC or laptop. You can also use it to restore data from USB, SD/memory card, external hard drive, SSD, etc.
Tip: If you want to fast scan a specific type of Office file like Word file, you can click the Scan Settings icon in the left panel. Here you can choose what type of files you want to scan. If you want to only scan and recover Word files, you can choose Document and only select Office Word Documents (*.doc) file type. Click OK to save the scan settings.
MiniTool ShadowMaker lets you choose any files and folders to back up to another place on your PC or back up them to an external hard drive, USB flash drive, etc. You can also select a partition or several partitions to back up partitions. You can even select the whole disk content to back up.
Aside from backing up files, you can also use MiniTool ShadowMaker to backup and restore your Windows system. This is helpful when your computer has problems and you want to revert your computer to a previous healthy state.
If you are interested in other products from MiniTool Software, you can find MiniTool Partition Wizard, MiniTool MovieMaker, MiniTool Video Converter, MiniTool Video Repair, and more from MiniTool Software official website.
