WhenI right-click on the song and choose "Copy," nothing pastes. When I click on the song and try dragging it to my desktop, it is light grey and transparent and shoots right back to the iTunes library, rather than dropping onto the desktop.
Apple Music files reside in iCloud unless you download them. Even if you download them they are not designed to be relocated by copying, it is intended you download from iCloud it to each device on which it is to be used.
What exactly happens when you try to copy? "Not working" is not a technical description of an issue (and is one of the terms that makes me automatically groan when I see it posted here - about 30 times a day ? ; I have a "not working" car -- want to tell me what is wrong with it based on that description? )
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. If I'm understanding correctly, you sent a song from iTunes using the Messages app and would like to know if the red play button displayed next to the song indicates that the recipient has listened to the song. I will be glad to assist. The red play button does not indicate that the song has been listened to, but instead gives you the option to play the song. There is no way of knowing if the recipient has actually listened to the song.
I can no longer find the feature that allowed you to gift a single song to a friend. I really need to be able to do this, in order to send songs to other band members. It used to be available via a drop menu located next to the purchase button, but that is now gone. I really can not afford to purchase multiple copies of multiple albums when all I need is a few songs for each person. Nor can I afford to send them all $15 gifts. Help, please?!
You can't (and as far as I know it hasn't been possible) to gift individual songs from an iOS device (iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone), only complete albums - you will need to use your computer's iTunes to gift the songs.
I am also having this problem, i thought i was the only one! It's so annoying because if i delete it from my library the whole album is deleted from my playlists. i thought updating it would help but it didn't. does anyone know how to fix this??
This is happening to me too. It's extremely frustrating, especially since you can't delete songs from your library without removing them from playlists too. I updated to the newest version of IOS in hopes it would help-- no luck. As others have said, if you are really really quick on adding a song after turning the setting off yet again it seems to work sometimes, but that's annoying, unreliable, and only lets you add one song at a time.
This seems to a bug that crawled in after the last update. They need to fix this asap, it's annoying and it would definitely be a driving factor on me switching music streaming service. My music library is sacred. I add songs to a playlist and depending on a few factors they either ascend to my music library or stay in the playlist till whenever.
If you're wanting to add songs to a playlist , go to the playlist and select "edit". Then add the songs by search. I haven't had them added to my library and I added at least 6 new songs to a playlist.
Me too!! I thought it was only me, but I tried restarting my phone and deleting Apple Music and reinstalling, but that doesn't work either so don't stress yourself to do so. I might contact Apple to see if they can do anything about it, but for the meantime, keep deleting songs out of your library.
So annoying, might just go to Spotify... or do the old method way of high res downloading/torrenting each song. Shame, I like Apple Music > Spotify because they support the artists more... but if they cannot fix such a simple bug anytime soon I will cancel my subscription and move on.
I'm from India. I have song credit in my iTunes account. But that song credit simply displays as a song credit and not in any monetary form. So I can't purchase any song from iTunes. Anyone please tell me how to use my song credit or to convert it into Rupees to my Apple account..??
My account has five song credits on them. When I try and use them my account asks for my credit card number. I don't use a credit card with my account, only gift cards. The five song credits were issues as part of an apology that my account had a complex problem that took a week to fix. Apple did fix the original problem, but now this.
Is this the first attempted purchase on a new computer/device ? If not then since getting the credits from Apple have you tried logging out and back into the account on the computer/device that you are using, and the credits show on the account on that computer/device ?
The devices aren't new and have had no problems with purchases or downloads. I even went out and got a new gift card to see if downloads were an issue. If I have gift card money on the account then downloads go through and the credits don't get used. I have tried logging out of my account and then back in on each device and the same issue continues on.
It's unpredictable when it happens, sometimes it could be half way through a track and it occurs, also happens multiple tracks in a row. Other times it could go through multiple tracks with no issues then the error suddenly occurs.
I've done all the troubleshooting stated on the Sonos website but I'm pretty sure my setup isn't the problem because I use a Radio App and also use YouTube Music via the Sonos app with no playback issues, the error just happens with Apple Music.
Not exactly promising, general consensus over there is that Sonos support knows there's a problem but focused on trying to shift blame within a user's home network (when there isn't one considering other music services work fine) rather than working out if there's an issue between Sonos and Apple.
For general info- In my case the problem is definitely linked to the files. I get this error message on some of my albums - I will get the message when I try and play the album in my library through the Sonos app, although the same track will play through the Apple Music app via airplay. Also If I search for the song/album in Apple Music via the Sonos app it will play fine, and I can solve the problem by deleting the album from my Library and adding it back in again.
That certainly suggests that the track has DRM encoded in it, and is likely an ancient download from Apple, before they stopped using DRM. I remember a couple of days when I had to delete all my old local Apple files, and download fresh, DRM free versions. Years ago, now. Maybe 2015?
Any update on the timetable for a solution? This is VERY disappointing. Being able to play my own extensive Apple Music library through my networked speakers was a HUGE factor in my purchase of several Sonos speakers throughout my house.
When I worked with Apple on some issues (not music related, mind you), their engineers would never share a timeline with us, either, so it seems like @Corry P is unlikely to provide you an answer that will satisfy you.
I don't have a solution to the problem, but I have a suggestion to have a different song to play. Search on Music for a song titled something like "A a a a a a...". There are several. They are usually 10 minutes of silence so you have time to find something before you hear the same song again for the millionth time (mine was A-Punk by Vampire Weekend).
So I also have this issue and it seems to be an apple music thing since I'm 99% certain, none of us have the same model/make of car. Suggesting that we reach out to the car manufacturer seems more a "we have no idea and we're not going to look into it" answer. Hoping for a more clear answer. will keep looking.
I obviously am here because I have the same issue and I would like to see an answer to turn it off completely because turning off auto play does not solve my issue. It will automatically play a song when plugged in even when turned off and my only guess as to why is because it pads Apple Music stats for plays. It is psychological torture. About to switch to Spotify
Seriously thought I was the only one .. My 2023 Apple Music Replay said my top song was A$AP Forever smh I think my only solution is to delete it and if I ever actually want to hear it, which will probably be never (sorry A$AP), I'll just have to search it up.
I have had the same car and car stereo for the last 10 years. I have had the same iPhone for the last 4 years. This was never an issue before. It started about two weeks ago. Every time I plug my phone into my stereo it now always begins with Van Halen's "A.F.U. (Naturally Wired)". There is no reason to contact Toyota or JVC. This very clearly began after the last iOS update. I leave my phone on shuffle, but it always starts with the same song every time I plug it in. Incredibly frustrating!
I have this same issue. It's so annoying. A-Punk by Vampire Weekend for me too. Why oh Why does the iPhone work this way? Clearly 100's of us have this issue, and we all don't have the same car or car stereo, it's a common problem with the iPhone and/or the iOS music app.
I don't understand the "this isn't an Apple feature" comment - the way car audio systems have worked forever (since the 1950s when we only had AM radio) is that whatever is going on when you turn the car off starts up again when you turn the car on. AM, FM, 8-track, cassette, CD, MP3, bluetooth, etc. This is fine with me. Clearly when the car and the iPhone reconnect, the iPhone is doing something terribly wonky.
I think the iPhone should just resume playing what it had been playing, continue with the same playlist or shuffle, etc. That would be a seemless experience as you move from car to earbuds and back into the car....and of course I should walk into my house and the playing picks up right where it was.
