We have no word's to define the blow that comes in the erratic instance when you realized that your friend and brother would not be joining you anymore, and since death is inevitable, there is only one painful truth we have to contend with when we loose someone dear to us. Perhaps it is the unknown of where they have gone and for their souls that emotionally trouble those they left behind. Gerald Korbla Quainoo, Jerry as he was affectionately called joined our class in form 3 in the 1974/75 academic year in Mawuli school, he was placed in Trost house, it was however amazing how quickly he settled and began to make friends. Jerry was very friendly and good natured, a very outgoing person who could make you laugh. He made us believe that his father was "The Buffalo Soldier" General Anorld Quainoo, who we later got to know was rather his Uncle, and since the country was in a Military Regime then, he got away with it and actually scared off the seniors who wanted to have their way with him. Jerry loved car's and all his time was spent talking and reading about cars, it was with great passion that he immersed himself into knowing everything he could about car's that it was no surprise to some of us when after school he started operating an Auto Repair Shop around the veterinary office in Labone, he was so dedicated to his work and really enjoyed every aspect of it, he was ready to explain to whoever was ready and willing to listen to him all the technical situations around the car's he was working on. Jerry returned from the U S A recently to establish a workshop which he was in the process of out dooring this year and was very enthusiastic and hopeful about. Jerry, you lived your life in full and you looked forward to enjoying the fruit of all that you laboured for, you made your plans known to us, we shall miss you terribly and never forget all the times we spent together. Jerry we still remember the day you caused the whole of Trost house to run for their dear life's in the middle of the night when you thought you had seen a ghost. Time will not permit us to recount all the sweet and great memories we shared, one day when the story of our time is told, yours will not be left out. We do believe that you are resting peacefully in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ, we shall meet again God willing at the last trumpet call......Goodbye Jerry and rest in perfect peace.
