Officially, the earliest Macintosh models that support Windows 8 are the mid-2011 MacBook Air, 13-inch-mid-2011 or 15 and 17-inch-mid-2010 MacBook Pro(except 13" mid-2010), mid-2011 Mac Mini, 21-inch-mid-2011 or 27-inch-mid-2010 iMac(except the 21.5" mid-2010), and early 2009 Mac Pro.[15][16] By running the Boot Camp assistant with a compatible version of Microsoft Windows setup disc in the drive and switching to a Windows 8 disc when Mac OS X reboots the machine to begin installing Windows, Windows 8 can be installed on older unsupported hardware.[citation needed] This can also work with Windows 10. Pre-2011 Intel Macs would unofficially run later versions of Windows (Windows 8 through Windows 10).
Another page directs me to use the boot camp assistant, but it requires that I have a thumb drive (ready to be reformatted), and I must reboot into MacOS I'm not going to do that. In anticipation to some responses, we can argue about it if you want but it'll be a waste of energy.
Meanwhile, bootcamp needs you to reformat a thumb drive. Reformatting is a big deal. If something goes wrong, the user can lose ALL of their data. The instructions even go into troubleshooting for reformatting a drive, which is really digging in to helping a user complete a dangerous operation.
It looks like I'm going to have to find some hack to get the new drivers to install, or risk uninstalling everything I currently have for boot camp so I can get the installer to install, and cross my fingers that I can run my system in-between boot camp installations.
Greetings. I am in the process of trying to get windows 7 onto my MacBPro, running 10.9.4. I have purchased Windows 7, downloaded it & have an .iso file.
I followed the instructions in bootcamp(gotten all proper windows updates) and utilized your bit of code to get bootcamp to create a bootable disc from the iso file and put it on a USB, which it does successfully. When I proceed to partition my drive through bootcamp, it stops me & says there is no bootable disc detected, pls install disc.
Through my research I have also installed rEFIt and using disk utility partitioned my drive and bypass bootcamp. When I start my mac, I get the rEFIt option to install windows from my USB, but in doing so it cannot find the BOOTMGR file.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I have Installed WIndows 8.1 using your method..But when i install Bootcamp Drivers..It installs them for a while and then screen goes black (when it is installing graphic drivers) and nothing happens eventually i have to restart my mac and then after the windows logo again that black screen appears..!
Any Suggestions ?
Hi. I already downloaded windows 8.1 (64-bit). And was in the process of making a bootable usb with the boot camp assistant but it prompts me with this message: Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use a ISO file for 64-bit Windows installation. I have a Macbook Air 10.9.2-early 2014. Please help. thanks

Got it to work, but one problem! On my PC when I went to this website and clicked create media installation, I chose ISO file and saved that ISO to my flashdrive, which I then plugged into my iMac so I could use that ISO in Bootcamp. Everything installed except the bootcamp drivers never came up during the installation so I cant connect to the internet while in windows 8.1. Was I not supposed to create an ISO file?

Basically no. You need to make sure you select the correct size when you create the Windows partition first up. There is some 3rd party tools that may do this. However this is not something that I will help people with.
If you want to resize the partition properly I suggest removing the boot camp partition and reinstalling the Windows all over again.

Make sure you do a back up of your Windows data before you try this.

I have a couple of questions. If I back up my data with an external hard drive, can I use only one external hard drive for both Yosemite and Windows 8?
And if I decide to remove the boot camp partition and reinstall it, will I be allowed to use the same product key for windows 8 as I did the first time?
Hey, I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro and I have Windows 8.1 downloaded onto it through bootcamp assist. I tried downloading the driver BootCamp5.1.5640 and it says that this driver doesnt work for this computer model. I was able to go in and manually add some and some worked (like the volume, bluetooth, etc), but the wifi DOES NOT work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

than continue window pop up, The installer dis could not be found.

Hi i have an early 2015 macbook pro. i am trying to install windows 10 iso via boot camp. i launch the boot camp amp, and can not get past the copying windows files screen. when it fails i get the message your bootable usb drive could not be created an error occurred while copying the windows installation files.

The W7 Bootcamp drivers do not work with W10.
Hello everyone, I apologize in advance for the time I will make you lose and I thank you in advance for the help you will want to give me.
I have an Imac on which I have created a partition with boot camp and I have installed MFSM that works fine, in the Mac partition I had installed Xplane 11 and now I have installed Xplane 12 and everything works fine.
I decided to install Xplane 12 in the partition made with boot Cam and where a 64-bit copy of windov 10 is loaded, I can't install Xplane 12 I have an error message about the request to install Adrenali 22.2.1 or other release continuously and to install the software for Vulcan with its release.
I state that I updated my video card drivers from windovs and that the update was successful, but I can't install Adrinalin Ne Vulcan, I wonder if the problem is in the lack of boot camp support.
I would have decided to make the partition because many interesting plugins do not support the Mac nor programs for Orthophoto.
Does any good soul have any suggestions?

And definitely a driver problem, from what I found on the net it seems that bot camp is not supported with the drives for Adrealin and Vulcan, you should find this update from a third party not from AMD !!
I managed to install it by downloading newer AMD drivers than what the official Apple updater gives you. Not perfect, but I've had no major errors. If you search for bootcamp drivers you can easily find guides to do so (at your own risk!)
Windows 10 can detect new graphics cards and install the drivers automatically. However the drivers are not up-to-date and sometimes interfere with setting up an external GPU. We recommend using DDU to uninstall the Radeon Pro drivers that came with Apple Boot Camp drivers (part of Boot Camp Assistant in macOS). DDU can also disable Windows automated graphics drivers installation so that you have full control of which drivers version to use. If you have a Mac with Radeon dGPU and plan on using a Radeon eGPU, the modified drivers from bootcampdrivers.com is the best approach to use both dGPU and eGPU concurrently.
Keep in mind Apple itself has not provided support for external GPU in Boot Camp. Therefore the following steps to set up an external graphics card with your MacBook Pro can possibly cause bootup issues. We highly suggest the use of the Windows System Protection feature. You can create manual Restore Points that capture snapshots of Windows in order to revert changes should you run into trouble.
Long story short I was having 2 issues: first one, whenever I chain loaded apple_set_os.efi first, Windows 10 would crash and reboot. After consulting with Mantiz John and Nando4, I think the cause of this for me was that I was enrolled and using a windows insiders preview version. After going with 1703 version of windows and opting out of windows insider previews, I was able to enable the Intel iGPU on Windows.
Boot with reFind selecting apple_set_os.efi(previously running the integrated.bat as mentioned on the guide), but I am diverting from the guide a bit by after apple_set_os.efi, chainloading Clover with the modified DSDT and then booting windows bootcamp with Clover.
One more thing..
I just noticed that it only charge my mac under MACOS with 60W.
Not sure how to check it under windows so can not verify if it is a MacOS thing.
though.. with the eGPU,
the load of dGPU will be very low,
so 60W? not too big a deal.
after several reboot and unplug for a while it get back to 100W charging under mac again
but still try to figure it out
So I was on the rEFInd boot screen, but I wanted to go take a shower so I leave the computer on and leave. I come back and now I have a really annoying Windows 10 logo flickering on my screen. I turn off the eGPU but it still flickers, and it flickers on my OSX side, so now I have a windows logo flickering on both Windows and OSX. My eGPU has been working like a charm before this.
At some stage of the installation, Windows 10 will automatically reboot. This is fine. No need to press the Option key as it is smart enough to know that it should boot from its own windows partition. In fact, I observed that Windows 10 rebooted twice in total before it shows the screen prompting for a product key. Enter the product key accordingly.
