Hi. I just upgraded from 1Password 4 to 7 but purchased a standalone licence. I typicaly use Firefox as my browser but when I've installed the extension, it doesn't link with my existing installation, it asks me to sign in to my 1password account/subscription -- which I don't have. Is my standalone licence not compatible with Firefox?
I use PhpStorm as my IDE. Later, after installing the update of Firefox (ver. 48.0) my tests stop working. I also try to run tests with Selenium Standalone Server ver. 3.0.0-beta3 but Firefox browser not open.
I have an older computer with Fedora 29 that I do not intend to upgrade, bought a DVD set of repository discs that I have manually installed and would like to avoid the dependency to on-line dnf for this particular computer. Have the entire repository stored in home folder. Will not be able to use this manual repository installation anymore since OSDiscs.com where I bought the DVDs on line is no longer in business. Cannot find any other place to pick up any recent 32 or later repositories only operating system discs or thumb drives are available.
As the Firefox and Chrome Browsers become older there will not be any support.
As an alternative I have downloaded stand alone versions of these browsers. Are these browsers a good way to keep up with updates to Firefox and Chrome for security purposes, or is there a serious vulnerability to using these versions instead of the ones that are default with the version of the operating system?
I do make sure that firewalld is installed on operating systems if that helps at all. With this older machine I want to stay with the older operating systems 27 or 30 since I have purchased complete sets of repositories on DVDs for these versions of Fedora. They do take a long time to manually install on your machine yet are worth the extra time and effort. Work offline okay using Shell after installation.
Do not want to throw away all this effort and time and value of all these DVDs, again use these on older machines and believe they will work better on these older operating systems than trying to upgrade to the latest. Since you warn of serious vulnerability, I will minimize any internet use with this machine.
I honestly have been using Linux operating systems and Windows (older XP) off line for many years without any internet. Used library for internet use when necessary (like downloading live iso versions of Fedora Design Suite). Had to get internet at home when COVID 19 started to close everything in this county for public use like libraries. Also like older versions of Fedora Design Suite since they have the 2.7 series versions of Blender, their radical interface change in the 2.8 series has me totally confused. Have a newer machine with 32 installed and keep that updated, really see no use for stand alone versions of internet browsers on a machine with latest operating system updates for Firefox and Chrome, only on older machines with no more update support.
Today we are pleased to announce the next step in our Firefox Private Network browser extension Beta. Starting soon, we will be transitioning from a free beta to a paid subscription beta for the Firefox Private Network browser extension. This version will be offered for a limited time for $2.99/mo and will provide unlimited access while using the Firefox Private Network extension. Like our existing extension, this version will be available in the U.S. first, but we hope to expand to other markets soon. Unlike our previous beta, this version will also allow users to connect up to three Firefox browsers at once using the same account. This will only be available for desktop users. For this release, we will also be updating our product icon to differentiate more clearly from the VPN. More information about our VPN as a stand-alone product offering will be shared in the coming weeks.
I just got myself a new MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon, and I started setting it up. One issue I ran into is that the web extension in the Firefox extension store seem to be some sort of stand alone version - which logs into 1password.com itself, instead of integrating with the app.
The new extension indeed works directly with 1Password.com vaults only, as standalone vaults are becoming obsolete. You might find this post about the future of standalone vaults very interesting: _602340
I definitely understand where you're coming from as I had my own doubts and concerns initially, but once I understood the security and encryption of it all I knew it is the best way to go. If you're interested:
I have a client running Firefox on a Mac who is having display issues with the web standalone model I've provided him. Just wondering if anyone has had similar looking issues and if there is a known solution. I've recommended installing the latest updates to firefox and/or downloading chrome. Sounds like there is a way to enable WebGL 2 on Safari even?
avi Can you send me via PM the link to the web standalone in question and the output of the developer console. You can open the developer console under the Chrome menu, More Tools, Developer Tools and Console. Once the console is open, reload the web standalone and after a minute or two you can right click and "Save As...".
I've seen the same happen on two pc laptops running windows, maybe 1.5 years old each of them. Same all black with maybe some edges. I can't ask them to update graphic drivers and I'm guessing that might be it. I've checked the firefox and chrome browsers of one of them and they are both up to date. The same model view was shared with 3 other computers that all worked great (one laptop). A mix of aged machines in the 3 that worked, new and old, updated and not. I'm thinking the two that didn't work just have junk for laptop onboard graphics. Wish I could check but I really can't. Going to try more and more machines to try and get a feel for how many might run into this.
Can you try the web standalone with the latest preview? To do that, take the link that was generated and add "?runtimeVersion=2.4.1.627-g390b6d1-r36" (without quotation marks) to the end. That may help and if it does that would be good news.
I know, this topic has been discussed already but i am still facing an issue here.
Since my app is supposed to run as an pwa, i would like to detect if the user is running the app in standalone mode. I am using the Toolbox with the javascripttobubble function, as you can see in the screenshot.
But somehow, i dont get a value back. It doesnt change at all. The return value remains NO.
thank you for your response on that. I followed your hint, but still no success. I dont know what i am doing wrong (see screenshot) but it still doesnt detect the standalone mode.

I tried it with Chrome, Safari and Firefox. All in browser and standalone mode. The Return Value doesent change at all. Could you add a screenshot of your workflow Run javascript?
Mozilla Firefox is a free and open-source web browser developed for Windows, OS X, and Linux, with a mobile version for Android, by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which implements current and anticipated web standards.
We already tried to analyze Firefox earlier and even succeeded to some extent. Based on the analysis results, we wrote the article "How to make fewer errors at the stage of code writing. Part N4". What was difficult about checking the project at the time is that we had to integrate the call of PVS-Studio's command-line version into makefiles. Doing this in a large, unfamiliar project is usually troublesome. That is the reason why we never tried to reanalyze Firefox after the first check. It all changed when PVS-Studio Standalone was created.
Use the Standalone installed Firefox version on the machine for embedded browser. This is regularly updated by Mozilla and updates run by the user and contains all necessary security fixes and other improvements
Like Marc has written down the "embedded Mozilla browser" is based on old version of mozilla (approx. v4) which have security graps which can not fixed or synchronized with actual version of firefox browser (based on v28 or v29).
And on the other hand the local installed "standalone Firefox browser (like IE)" are already configured and checked by the internal company security and have right options from the view of the security.
To install the Zotero Standalone software visit . You must have administrative privileges on your computer to download the software. Click on the link for the correct operating system and follow standard procedures for installing software on your computer. Zotero Standalone comes with word processor plug ins, so you will not need to install these.
The standalone part of Loop (also known as the link-clicker UI) can be viewed in any web browser, and is hosted on a server. You can hook the development server up to talk to one of the servers to be able to test changes to the standalone UI.
If you've got the standalone server running, you can view this by visiting :3000/ui/ . This lets you layout the content pages (the parts displayed in the panel and conversation view) in a web context before loading and testing them in Firefox itself.
Issue:
When attempting to log into your GoPiGo robot, running Dexter OS, (which is always in stand-alone access-point mode) or the new GoPiGo OS, (which defaults to stand-alone access-point mode), you get a message at the top of your browser that says:
You might be wondering which desktop client to use. Zotero was originally developed as a Firefox add-on. Because of this pedigree, and because Firefox is still the most extensible browser on the market, Zotero for Firefox has several features that are absent from Zotero Standalone. On the other hand, Zotero Standalone is typically somewhat faster, and connects easily to Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. For a full comparison, see the table below:
