IDE not working

The Omnet IDE has been working on my machine for a while, but for some
reason it's not working any more.

When I type "omnetpp" in the mingw window, it types starting the Omnet
++ IDE, but the IDE actually doesn't start. I think the problem is
related with the java version installed on my machine. I noticed that
this started to happen after I updated the java upon an automatic
request.

I don't know what am I supposed to do to solve this problem. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, I assume you have upgraded to the latest Java version?

Could you just try "java -version" just to be sure what version you are using.

Does the splash screen come up? or just nothing happens after that.

The next thing is: check for log files (and attach them) in the

omnetpp/ide

and

omnatpp/ide/configuration

directory. If there is a severe problem starting java, some files should be generated there.

Hi Rudolf,

Thanks for your reply. Now the problem is solved.

I followed your steps, but:
When I type java version I get
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
and I don't get any log files

so I uninstalled java and reinstalled it, because I think it didn't install properly the previous time.

Now it's working.

sir i have the sme problem . I am working on ubuntu 12.04 and omnet version is omnet 4.1. The ide screen splash and then disappears . I have checked the java version on my system is as follows:
java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.5) (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

also log files are there in omnetpp-4.1/ide/configuration folder.

Two questions:

a) Is there still a java process running w/ producing high CPU load?
b) What was the last time the machine has been rebooted?

I am asking, because we had the same problem here which were related to
the java leap second bug:

(command to fix this included)
