Hi Roy

I have started in September with OMNeT++ ans would still call me noob.

The way I started was doing the tic toc examples and reading the Learning OMNeT++ book, looked at the INET examples and played with the ned and ini files to run my own stuff.

Where do you have problem in the process of running the module?
Did you follow the installation instruction from here: http://omneteponmodule.sourceforge.net/dummy/PON/doc/neddoc/index.html

Dependencies

1. OMNet++ versions 4.0 or 4.1 (http://omnetpp.org/omnetpp/cat_view/17-downloads/1-omnet-releases/4-older-versions)

Don't know if it also works with newer versions. I am trying to adapt an older project to the new INET...

2. INET or INET/MANET FrameWork for the above versions (http://inet.omnetpp.org/index.php?n=Main.Download)

When you start the OMNeT++ IDE for the first time, you are asked, if you want to let it install INET.

3. This version depends on a smaller project for 802.1Q vlans that comes in the same archive.

To be honest: I have no clue what that means. But I think it's just an info, which you can ignore...

Here are the instructions they give:

Installation should be straight forward. OMNet++ 4.0 and INET framework are required. Steps:

  • Open Omnet++ IDE
  • Import and compile the INET project
  • Extract the PON_<version>.tar.gz file
  • Import Vlans project by selecting the Vlans folder of the extracted archive
    • Setup the Project References to point to your INET
    • Compile
  • Import EPON project by selecting the PON folder of the extracted archive
    • Setup the Project References to: Vlans and INET
  • Add the PON project to the project references of your work (optional - if you are building in an external proj./folder)
  • Now everything should work...
Let me know if you have any problems following it.

Best regards
Ramon

Did you use the latest release of the EPON module and an older OMNeT and INET/INETMANET release?
Their website clearly states that it is not working with newer releases... that might be one of your problems...

Dear Roy

I don't use the EPON module, so I have no experience with it.

And I don't know what you did. Are there examples in the module that
you can run? Does this problem only occur with your simulation?

Best
Ramon
