Hi all,

I am a new user of OMNeT++ 4.0 and I faced the execution error while
trying to run the TIC TOC project.

the error message is (omnet++ root must be set in window|
preferences)..

I read the replies but I do not understood what and how can I change
the root dirctory..

1st of all I downloaded the OMNet++ 4.0 from the omnetpp.com as zipped
file, I extracted it not install it.

there is no any installation to ask me where the root is.

I put it as C:\omnetpp-4.0\

I run the omnet IDE from the IDE folder.

can you please advise me as soon as possible .. I got stucked.

My best regards

Tarek

Yes. before you start the IDE, you MUST configure and build OMNET

in the MINGW console you have to type

./configure
make

after the build process finished, you can start the IDE and explore the samples.

Rudolf

ps: and please, read the documentation, there is a file called INSTALL in the OMNeT++ directory

I can tell you that when I unzipped the downladed omnet++4.0, its path
as: C:\omnetpp-4.0-src-windows\omnetpp-4.0
then I run the mingwenv.cmd
then when typed ./configure
I think it is given me error in configuring
can you please give me the steps in more details
I read the Readme-MinGW.txt and I think I followed the steps without
any success
How can make it

please help me.

GOOD NEWS

I did it,

after runing the mingwenv.cmd

I typed the full path of the configure
as as: C:/omnetpp-4.0-src-windows/omnetpp-4.0/fconfigure

after that (after some instalations)

type make

then it will take about 10 minutes, then it will says to you
type omnetpp to start IDE
