Hi,

Somebody please help in solving the issue of IDE error on Fedora Core 11 64 bit systems. Will removing the Eclipse  solve the problem?

Thanks.

Mukul,

You wrote something like this a while ago:

> But in my case there is no error in the terminal ((.:5169): dk-CRITICAL
> **: gdk_x11_atom_to_xatom_for_display:assertion `atom != GDK_NONE'
> failed). Only when I run IDE and choose the workplace location,

Emphasis: ""I get the message box saying that there is an error.""

This is by no means enough information to make even a remote guess of what
might be the problem in your installation. There's NO ONE ON EARTH who could
help you, unless you give more (MUCH MORE) information.

At minimum, the exact error message, the Eclipse log (.metadata/.log), and
any other stdout/stderr message.

I think I need to clarify that the OMNeT++ IDE is a product based on the
Eclipse Platform, so any help you find on Eclipse forums also apply to the
OMNeT++ IDE.

Regards
Andras

Thanks for the log! Scrolling down in it, I can see you have a firefox (xulrunner) incompatibility problem; see the first of the “Known Problems” at the bottom of the wiki page  http://www.omnetpp.org/pmwiki/index.php?n=Main.Omnetpp4  (“SWTError: XPCOM error -2147467262”)

Regards,

Andras

I think I got the solution:

1. I have installed fedora eclipse
2. I have deleted file:
org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.x86_64_3.4.1.v3449c.jar from /omnetpp-4.0/
ide/plugins
3. I have copied file:
org.eclipse.swt.gtk.linux.x86_64_3.4.1.v3452b.jar from /usr/lib64/
eclipse/plugins/ to /omnet-4.0/ide/plugins
4. I have deleted all files like libswt-xxx-3449.so from /omnetpp-4.0/
ide/configuration/org.eclipse/osqi/bundels/160/1/.cp

Regards
Paul

Hi,

Thanks a lot. Yes, indeed it has resolved the problem. Now I am able to successfully start the IDE on Fedora Core 11 (64 bit). Although, I have not checked the successful running of the simulation but the IDE is starting fine now.

Thanks again.

The exact error and the solution is described here in this email. This is the problem with the Fedora Core 11 systems with gcc 4.4. The solution by paul works fine but I need it to be incorporated in new version of OMNeT++.

Thanking you.
