Hi all,

We are trying to install Eclipse Java Development Tools and Plug-in Development Environment in Oment 4.2 but showing the below errors.
We would like to use Omnet version 4.2 as it is compatible with oour OpenFlow simulation Project along side with INET 2.0.

"Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
  Software being installed: Eclipse Java Development Tools 3.7.2.v20120120-1414-7z8gFcuFMP7BW5XTz0jLTnz0l9B1 (org.eclipse.jdt.feature.group 3.7.2.v20120120-1414-7z8gFcuFMP7BW5XTz0jLTnz0l9B1)
  Software currently installed: OMNeT++ IDE 4.2.0.120327-7947143 (org.omnetpp.ide.product 4.2.0.120327-7947143)
  Only one of the following can be installed at once:
    External Tools Headless Support 1.0.200.v20130402-1741 (org.eclipse.core.externaltools 1.0.200.v20130402-1741)
    External Tools Headless Support 1.0.0.v20100505 (org.eclipse.core.externaltools 1.0.0.v20100505)"

Can anyone kindly advise our situation. Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Nat and Ameen

Trying to add Java development tools into the OMNeT IDE, which is basically Eclipse for C/C++ development plus some packages from the general Eclipse IDE... which in your case seem to be the source of the error (one version already installed while you try to install Java tools which want to install a different version).

Did you try to alter the "Available Software Sites" in the OMNeT IDE?
Maybe you can look up the different sites for Eclipse and check the versions of the package that you're trying to install and the already installed part and then switch to a software site that provides exactly this version...

Or check if you can "overwrite" the conflict dependency or update the specific package (External Tools Headless Support in your case) separately.
Others seem to have this issue too, it is actually more connected to Eclipse then OMNeT: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7472966/cannot-complete-the-install-because-of-a-conflicting-dependency

I suggest to use OMNeT++ 4.4.1 (just released). It can install the JDT and PDT just fine. INET 2.0 can be compiled with the latest OMNeT++ version you just need to replace getFieldArraySize -> getArraySize in two files where the compiler complains.

Dear Rudolf,

WE have replaced getFieldArraySize -> getArraySize in two files as you suggested. However, many errors still occur as following:

Register_ClassDescriptor(AODV_extDescriptor);
Register_ClassDescriptor(RERR_udestDescriptor);
Register_ClassDescriptor(RERRDescriptor);
Register_ClassDescriptor(RREP_ackDescriptor);
Register_ClassDescriptor(RREQDescriptor);

we have comment out all of them and it compiled and working properly. Does this affect the INET 2.0 performance.
Many thanks ahead :-)

Nat and Ameen

If you are not using MANET routing protocols it does not matter. In fact if you turn off the MANET routing in the Project Features dialog, you even don't have to modify the code.

dear sir, do you still have this problem?
Im having problem using openflow omnet. i just add one more link/channel in existing example and the sim time take a long time and space of disk. I suspect it is looping problem. please share your thought and experience in using the openflow omnet until now. thanks

Hi Nor,

Can you send us your network topology.
Is the simulation complete after you run and has the results come up?
Maybe you didn't use a topology aware SDN controller. Just because we have a SDN enabled network, it doesn't mean we that we don't have same old concerns of Loops and broadcast storms. The controller forwarding modules together detect and prevent packets from travelling in a loop.
Moreover, you can contact the main author who developed OpenFlow extension in Omnet++ for technical issues.

Cheers!!

Hi Pakawat,

Does OMNET++ openflow module (ofomnet)   support wireless scenarios? Can I use implemented openflow controller and openflow switch modules in a  wireless environment? Do you have any information about this subject ?

   Thanks in advance.
